Chairman of the NDRA resigns

Chairman of the National Drug Regulatory Authority (NDRA) , Professor Lal Jayakody has submitted his letter of resignation.

Seven fishermen from Tamil Nadu were arrested today by Sri Lankan Naval personnel for allegedly fishing in Lankan territorial waters prompting Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take steps for their release.

The seven, part of groups of fishermen who ventured into the sea from Rameswaram, have been taken to Talaimannar in northern Sri Lanka, Rameswaram Fishermen Association president T Sesuraja said.

Nuwan Kulasekera announces his test retirement

Former ODI No.1 spot holder Nuwan Kulasekara has announced his retirement from Test Cricket with immediate effect.

In a letter addressed to SLC, Kulasekera says,

“I would like to retire from playing Test cricket with immediate effect. After much thought I believe it is the right time to retire and I hope it will allow me to better prepare for ODI and T20 cricket, which I would like to continue playing for Sri Lanka subject to good performance and selection”
